- For the first page of the assignment (Identifying Substances) you should review the notes you were given today and Friday. The names can be found online by doing a little research or in a classroom text. The rest should be explained in the notes.
- For the second page, remember an isotope means the element has more or less neutrons than protons. A specific element will always have the same number of protons. If you are given an example that has a different number of Protons, it is a different element. Use your periodic chart and the information you were given in Friday's notes to find the names of each element.

This awesome Interactive Periodic chart is great for exploring the periodic chart. You can use it to complete part of the handouts you will be given today,Thursday and Friday.
Handout #4 Due Thursday 5/1. You will need to refer to yesterdays notes and today's notes to complete this one.
Periodic Chart - metals, non-metals, metalloids and noble gasses 5/1
Notes #5: Please ready, copy (in writing) and save
The Interactive Periodic chart will be helpful when doing the assignment today. You should also refer to your notes from today and yesterday.
Handout # 4-2 Due Friday 5/1.
Periodic Chart - Families 5/2
The Interactive Periodic chart will be helpful when doing the assignment today. You should also refer to your notes from today and yesterday.
Handout #5 Due Monday - you will need markers or crayons to color code the periodic chart on the first page of your handout. You should also add the group numbers above the periodic chart to help you remember how many valence electrons each family has.
Atom and periodic chart 5/5
I have found after grading papers that some student are still struggling with reading the periodic chart and building an atom. Please take time to come see me before school, during A lunch, during 5th hour or after school. I am usually in the room from 7am - 5pm or later some days. I would love to help you.
We will be reviewing some of the ideas that you seem to be struggling with today, then learning a few new ideas that will help us with the next section on bonding.

Handout # 7 Atomic Dimensions Due Tuesday.
There will be a test this week over the atom and the Periodic table. Most likely it will be on Wednesday or Thursday. Study your notes!
Pre-test review 5/6 - 5/7
Tuesday and Wednesday you will be reviewing for your test on Thursday.
Tuesday 5/6 you will be given a review packet to complete. You will also need to get your notes & warm-ups in order and ready to turn in. If you have been keeping them in order and are able to turn all of them in (in order) Tuesday you will get a few points extra credit!
Wednesday 5/7 we will go over the packet in class. We will review any areas you have questions. Please make sure to bring your questions to class. This is the time to make sure you are ready to take the test Thursday. Notes and the review packet will be due at the beginning of the hour.

Make up Day 5/9
- You will need to pick up a Grade report
- Highlight missing work
- Pick up missing work
- Complete - Due no later than Monday! I will not except late work after Monday from Mr. Williams. If you turn things in from me you will loose a point per day it is late.
- Have parent or guardian sign grade report and turn it in on Monday
Chemical Bonds May 12
You will be learning about bonding for the next few weeks. Today will be an introduction to bonding.

I found a great site to explore that will help you with many topics related to the periodic table and bonding (bonding is under the groups tab)
Explore this site any time you need help with a topic that you are having a hard time with.

Here is another site that is great at explaining bonding. It requires reading but, it also has interactive examples of ionic, covalent and other types of bonding and Lewis Dot structures.
